- ➤ Nikki Glaser will perform on November 12 at Prairie Home Alliance Theater as part of her Stunning Tour, marking her return to Peoria since 2023. The comedian, who solo hosted the Golden Globe Awards, will host the 83rd ceremony on January 11 + presale begins January 8. WMBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Illinois taxpayers should get ready as tax season nears; the IRS typically begins accepting returns in late January and employers must send W-2 forms by Jan. 31. Tax returns and extension filings are due by April 15, and extensions only delay paperwork submissions (not tax payments) to avoid penalties. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed on Monday, Jan. 19 with many services across the state closing for the holiday. Teachers, bank employees and federal agencies (including courts and post offices) will be off while large retailers and FedEx remain open. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ The Peoria Liquor Commission recommended Pop-Up Chicken Shop for a liquor license in the Warehouse District yesterday after more than a year and three attempts, and the shop now must submit its application to the city. 25 News Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Illinois Department of Human Services discovered on Sept. 22 that incorrect privacy settings exposed personal details of over 600,000 patients on mapping websites from 2021 to 2025, and affected individuals will receive a notice with a contact number soon. WCBU
- ➤ OSF Healthcare’s Dr. Brian Curtis urged residents to get their flu shot as high levels of influenza have been reported, advising frequent handwashing & proper hygiene to help slow the spread of the virus. He also recommended staying home until being fever-free for at least 24 hours. WMBD

- ➤ Twenty players from local high schools took part in national championship games for Illinois State, North Central, Iowa Western, and College of DuPage. The contests were held in Nashville (Jan. 5), Canton (Jan. 4), Canyon (Dec. 17), and Glen Ellyn (Dec. 6). Pekin Daily Times
