- ➤ Peoria officials held a ribbon-cutting on Thursday morning at the new domed event space at Peoria Stadium during the 365 Breakfast for the Peoria Public Schools Foundation. - ➤ Anime-Zap is drawing anime fans this weekend at the Embassy Suites Convention Center in East Peoria — featuring panels, a cosplay contest, a date auction, and a vendor hall. More than 500 people are expected to join as fans celebrate Japanese animation. WMBD

- ➤ The Peoria Public Schools board has narrowed its search for a new superintendent to two candidates, Dr. Jerry Bell and Dr. Renee Andrews — after Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat attended her final event at the district’s Breakfast before retiring in June, the board will vote in January. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria Public Library (newly selected sponsor) will host the regional spelling bee, offering one Central Illinois student a chance to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this May in Washington, D.C. - ➤ Peoria's WTVP is shifting to a fully community-funded model after CPB announced its dissolution on Monday amid federal funding cuts. The station finished a five-month fundraising drive last week, raising $1 million to help cover the loss of federal support. 25 News Now

- ➤ The USDA released a new inverted food pyramid that matches what local dieticians already recommend to boost health + stress eating lean protein, fruits, vegetables and whole grains while limiting processed foods. The guidelines will remain in place until 2030. 25 News Now
