  • Several dozen community members gathered at a candlelight vigil near Bradley University on Friday at Main and University streets to honor Renee Nicole Good, whose death in Minneapolis has resonated with local residents (organizers called the event an organic, grassroots gathering).  25 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Peoria Public Schools unveiled a 100,000 sqft dome space during the 11th annual 365 Breakfast at Peoria Stadium. The indoor facility, built at $8 million (grant funding covered half), is available for high school sports and community events.  WMBD
  • NAACP Peoria hosted an open house for high school students to sign up for its ACT-SO program — a mentorship and cultural competition that spotlights academic talents. Students who earn gold locally will advance to the national competition in Chicago in July.  25 News Now

  • Richwoods all-stater Amarion Smith-Holley will miss 3-4 weeks after sustaining a foot injury during Friday’s game — his coach said he will focus on strength exercises so he may return sooner.  Pekin Daily Times
