- ➤ Eddie Bauer LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Feb. 9 due to declining sales and supply chain challenges. Illinois stores — including Peoria — remain open while the company navigates a court-supervised sale process with no closures announced. Pekin Daily Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Peoria Public Schools named Michael Curry, a Decatur administrator, as the new chief financial officer + he will start on July 1 to succeed Mick Willis while the board also filled two other leadership roles in recent weeks. WMBD
- ➤ The Peoria Public Schools Board tabled a resolution Monday night on letting police access the district's live camera feeds. If approved, police would only view exterior cameras for real-time investigations (with equipment provided by the department) while control remains with the district. WMBD
- ➤ Lawmakers remain unsure about increasing higher education funds due to a tight budget and await further details on the evidence-based funding model (requesting nearly 5% more) for public colleges. Education leaders from the region, including Peoria’s Sen. Koehler, discussed spending cuts and other steps to keep university costs affordable. WCBU
