ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A North Peoria McDonald's closed after a kitchen fire on Sunday night. The deep fryer overheated — which activated the sprinkler system — prompting a safe evacuation and repair work estimated at $10,000.  WMBD

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Peoria dropped by 0.7 cents per gallon last week, averaging $2.93 on Monday. Prices remain 7.8 cents higher than last month and 35.3 cents lower than this time last year.  25 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The southbound lane of MacArthur Highway between John Gwynn Jr. Ave. and Brotherson Street will close to traffic tomorrow for the summer during a $10 million project to create three lanes, while the northbound lane stays open (detours via Richard Pryor Place and Jefferson Ave).  WCBU

  • The Bradley University community in Peoria is mourning basketball legend Joe Stowell, who died Saturday at age 99. Flags will fly at half staff on campus for three days to honor his more than 70 years of service.  WCBU
