  • Pastor Chuck Brown’s CJ Harvest grocery nears opening on the south side after four years of planning. Work permits have been approved and contractors are finishing the build, so the food store is expected to open in 2-3 months near S. Western and W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.  WMBD

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Peoria have dropped by 5.5 cents to an average of $2.87 per gallon this week, though they remain 2.7 cents higher than last month yet 40.9 cents lower than last year — GasBuddy points to local supply constraints and contrasting national trends.  WMBD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters will cast ballots on Tuesday, March 17 for the Peoria Public Schools District 3 board seat as early voting is already underway in Peoria County. Candidates Sarah Howard and Doug Shannon offer competing plans to boost student success, improve classroom discipline, and support teacher staffing — key priorities for local education.  25 News Now
  • Illinois Central College will host public forums with its three presidential finalist candidates on March 5, 9 and 10 on the East Peoria campus at 4 p.m. each day to collect community feedback that will guide the Board of Trustees in choosing the next college president.  WCBU
