- ➤ Former city council member Denise Moore is retiring as CEO of Black Business Alliance and Minority Business Development Center at the end of June to spend more time with family (her loved ones encouraged the change). Luisa Gomez will lead the Minority Business Development Center to continue its community work. WCBU
- ➤ 104.9 the Wolf wrapped up its two-day Country Cares Radiothon on Thursday, raising $71,877 for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital and breaking last year’s record (co-hosts Mike Stechman and John Young thanked listeners for their support; donations can still be made via call or text). WMBD

- ➤ The Brimfield Public Library will host a Local Author Fair on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. Over two dozen Central Illinois writers will showcase works ranging from mystery to children’s literature, and families will enjoy a Book Bonanza story time and craft event. WCBU

- ➤ Fabian Daniels, principal at Annie Jo Gordon Community Learning Center on Peoria’s South Side, was named one of seven finalists for the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership. She brings 25-year experience to her school and will share a $10,000 prize split between her and the school, with the winner announced later this year. WCBU
- ➤ Sen. Graciela Guzmán introduced a proposal to block the federal scholarship tax credit program that Rep. Travis Weaver supports to aid both public & private school students.
