COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Peoria’s 45th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade drew over 100 floats, bands, and community groups on Tuesday amid single-digit wind chills — a tradition uniting locals for over four decades. Organizers said next year will be warmer.  25 News Now
  • Midwest Food Bank received over $500K in food, equipment and supplies from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at its Morton location on Mar. 17, with the donation including a check presentation + disaster relief kits to help the bank serve families facing hunger.  WCBU

BUSINESS NEWS

  • After nearly two years of waiting, Pop-Up Chicken Shop in the Warehouse District received a city liquor license and will now apply for state approval. Owner Aaron Francis expects to serve alcohol by early April & boost dinner service.  Peoria Journal Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday's Peoria Public Schools elections resulted in a tight race in District Three with Sarah Howard leading Doug Shannon by 44 votes while District Two showed Andy Diaz with nearly a 700-vote advantage. Vote-by-mail ballots arriving over the next two weeks may change the final counts.  WMBD
  • On Monday, the Washington City Council honored the state champion girls basketball team and awarded Engineer Carr for TERRA Engineering’s work on the Nofsinger Road realignment project; council is reviewing neighbor disputes and safety issues after a pedestrian was hurt from missing sidewalks — further action may follow.  WCBU
