- ➤ The Central Illinois Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired received a $20,400 grant from the Peoria Heights Suburban Lion’s Club on Thursday morning to purchase new devices such as GPS-enabled white canes, print-to-audio tools, and talking microwaves—equipment they loan for free to assist those who cannot afford them. 25 News Now
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A woman died after being struck by a car at 6:53 p.m. on Wednesday at the Knoxville Avenue and Orchard Place intersection in Peoria—bystanders tried to help as police arrived and the driver remained at the scene. Peoria Journal Star
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Peoria man named Domincue Linwood, 26, was sentenced on March 20th to 85 years in prison after a county jury convicted him for the 2022 murder of 24-year-old Jamarion Lee—he will serve his full term in state prison. WCBU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Tuesday, March 25 at 7:00 a.m., N Radnor Road between W Ridgeview Road and W Alta Lane will be closed for railroad crossing repairs until Friday, March 28—only residential traffic and emergency vehicles may use the road while drivers should follow the detour along N Allen Road. - ➤ The city of Peoria will close N. Radnor Road to through traffic between W. Ridgeview Road and W. Alta Lane on March 25 + the closure applies only to this section + no further details were provided. Peoria County
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood said he meets with any constituent through telephone town halls and informal weekend meetings although he has not committed to a formal town hall.
