  • The Beautification Commission is organizing the East Peoria Clean Sweep cleanup on May 3 from 8 a.m. to noon & individuals & groups must pre-register to ensure enough supplies are available.  City of East Peoria

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Emo's Ice Cream opened for the season Friday morning in Peoria by offering half-price ice cream & coney dogs from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. after postponing opening a day due to snow, preparing over 1,000 coney dogs and large orders for local suppliers while donating part of the sales to St. Jude and Susan G Komen.  WMBD

FINANCE NEWS

  • Illinois residents who have not filed taxes must complete their return by April 15th to avoid a 5% monthly penalty on unpaid tax, but filing an extension gives them until October 15th to submit while keeping the penalty to 0.5% per month if payment is delayed - residents must use Form IL-505-I on MyTax Illinois since the extension does not delay the payment deadline.  Pekin Daily Times

  • Peoria City Soccer begins its fourth season today at Peoria Stadium with the Copa Peoria Series exhibition against the under-23 squad of Chivas de Guadalajara at 3:00 p.m., preceded by a high school girls’ soccer match between Peoria Notre Dame and Geneseo at 1:00 p.m.  WMBD
  • Two former Peoria POYs, Iowa’s Aaliyah Guyton and Harvard’s Katie Krupa, will compete in the women’s NCAA tournament today—Guyton starts for Iowa at 11 a.m. against Murray State while Krupa’s Harvard faces Michigan State at 4:30 p.m.  Pekin Daily Times
