ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A multi-vehicle crash occurred shortly before (9:30 p.m.) near University and Forrest Hill in Peoria, killing one person and leaving two others who declined hospital treatment (with lanes closed in the 3100 block of University Street) as the Illinois State Police began investigating the incident. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria firefighters responded to a fire on N. Renwood Avenue around noon Friday that quickly stopped the blaze — limiting smoke and water damage while displacing residents — and one adult was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center; the Red Cross is now providing temporary housing as investigators check the cause. - ➤ Cincinnati Insurance Company sued the former WTVP finance director and the estate of its ex-CEO on March 13th for $250,000, alleging they conspired—by making unauthorized personal charges—to hide embezzlement that caused a $375,017 loss for the station. Peoria Journal Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ IDOT announced that the first demolition explosion event on McClugage Bridge will occur on Thursday around 10 a.m.—the bridge will be closed for up to an hour to let explosives sever steel girders, and traffic on Route 150 will be rerouted while Route 29 stays open. IDOT also said five more events are planned over the next three months without set dates. WMBD
- ➤ Beginning Monday, the Pfeiffer Road Bridge in Peoria County west of Bartonville will close for a rehabilitation project that lasts through July and includes replacing deck beams, repairing piers and abutments, and installing new rails. On Tuesday in Peoria, Radnor Road will close between Ridgeview Road and Alta Lane for pavement repairs at a railroad crossing and only residential traffic and emergency vehicles will be allowed until Friday — drivers are advised to use alternate routes. - ➤ Cancer survivor Shondia Sabari (bold and breastless) spoke at this year’s Circle of Promise breakfast hosted by Susan G. Komen Central Illinois Memorial in East Peoria and said she chose a mastectomy 14 years ago after a right breast cancer diagnosis so she could spend more time with her family and give hope to others. 25 News Now
