CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded early Saturday morning to Lexington Hills Apartments where they found a 26-year-old with a gunshot wound and later arrested an adult male for aggravated battery—he was taken to a local hospital and is stable—while the investigation continues.  WMBD

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Demolition of the old eastbound McClugage Bridge continued after a new span opened to traffic, and on Tuesday workers removed the nest sticks from its eastern support following state guidelines since the osprey nest had blown down in a storm last summer—officials hope the birds will choose another safe spot to nest.  Pekin Daily Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • At the 2025 Illinois Top Times Championships held on March 28-29 at Shirk Center in Bloomington, 90 state champions were crowned in indoor track and field—10 winners came from Peoria area schools, with local champs such as Jaiduan Cranford and Daniella Bumber earning titles—showing strong regional performances.  Pekin Daily Times
