- ➤ Illinois-born Archbishop Fulton Sheen — famed for his pioneering television ministry — receives the Vatican's blessing for beatification after a baby's heart restarted following 61 minutes without a beat. The beatification Mass will be held on Sept. 24 in St. Louis. ABC7 Chicago
- ➤ River City Soul Fest will return to the Peoria riverfront in August with two shows - Gospel Fest on Friday, Aug. 7 featuring Lisa Knowles-Smith and The Brown Singers and R&B Night on Saturday, Aug. 8 headlined by Jon B. and Jacquees. Tickets start at $20 and $35. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ Peoria’s Catholic bishop Louis Tylka said hundreds attended mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Easter and around 650 to 700 were seen the night before, with over 200 joining the church through baptism and confirmation.
