- ➤ Casey's opened its second Tremont store at 100 Lake Street after purchasing the former BP Dlux property for $2.213 million on March 11. The store hires new team members and passed a Tazewell County Health Department inspection on March 19 — it operates from 4 a.m. to midnight with curbside pick-up from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pekin Daily Times

- ➤ A 65-year-old woman was arrested for aggravated DUI and reckless homicide after her car hit and killed 35-year-old Michael Ayers near the intersection of Washington Road and Lakeshore Drive on April 2 at 9 p.m.—she will appear in court on May 5 at 1:30 p.m. Pekin Daily Times

- ➤ Gas prices in Peoria rose nearly ten cents a gallon over the last week as Monday’s average reached $3.38 from a survey of 148 stations—this marks a month increase of 12.5 cents and remains about 35.5 cents lower than a year ago. GasBuddy’s analyst warned that falling oil prices amid restored production and tariff concerns may lead to lower prices soon—while AAA Illinois reported a Peoria/Pekin average of $3.39, slightly above the national average of $3.25. - ➤ Bradley University is welcoming new President James Shadid today at Renaissance Coliseum from (2-4 p.m.) as he meets with students, staff and faculty. Shadid said he spent his first week learning about the campus and will work to ease tensions and build a better culture. WMBD

- ➤ State lawmakers are meeting to change public transit funding rules—aiming to fix a $771 million gap. Transit leaders warn that rising costs may force service cuts—lawmakers plan to add more sales tax money to help downstate bus and train systems before the General Assembly will adjourn on May 31. - ➤ OSF HealthCare has named Kimberly Russo as the new regional CEO for its Central Region serving Peoria after Bob Anderson retired in January. Russo led George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. and was group vice president for Universal Health Services. Peoria Journal Star
