ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • East Peoria firefighters extricated two occupants from a rollover crash that occurred at 10:30 p.m. Friday on the 1900 block of Cole Street; both were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center as Level 1 trauma patients.  WMBD

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Deer Creek woman traveled to Washington, D.C. to rally for Medicaid after disability groups warned of potential cuts—attending a policy seminar with nearly 900 advocates. She, a support worker for people with disabilities, met with congressional staffers and said she will fight to preserve Medicaid funding that has paid for long-term care for those in need.  WMBD

  • Peoria Notre Dame grad Mya Wardle, a three-time Illinois All-Stater and IHSA Class 2A state champion, committed on Saturday to transfer to Bradley University to continue her collegiate career under head coach Kate Popovec-Goss; she played her freshman season at Eastern Kentucky and her father, Brian Wardle, coaches Bradley Men’s Basketball.  WMBD
  • Two former Peoria prep standouts continued their basketball careers as they announced their college commitments; Mya Wardle—a former Peoria Notre Dame star—committed to Bradley University and Aaliyah Guyton—a Peoria High grad—committed to Illinois.
