- ➤ Caterpillar announced Tuesday that Joe Creed will succeed Jim Umpleby as CEO—Creed joined the company in 1997 and has served in several leadership roles as the company braces for an economic downturn due to tariffs. 25 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 21-year-old man from Peoria Heights was arrested Friday night at 8:20 p.m.—after a traffic stop at William Kumpf and Romeo B. Garrett Avenue and a short police chase—and officers recovered several bags of cannabis from his backpack before he was released on a notice to appear on charges of manufacturing and delivering cannabis with intent and obstructing police. - ➤ Peoria Police arrested 56-year-old James Ernst Jr. from Edwards after a burglary at the VIP Smoke Shop on N. Sheridan Road near W. Lake last weekend when the glass front door was shattered—he is now held in Peoria County Jail. WMBD
- ➤ 22-year-old Zavon M. Knox, indicted on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a felon, will remain in Peoria County Jail pending his next court appearance following a detention hearing Monday—he was arrested over the weekend in connection with an incident at Stop N Save. 25 News Now

- ➤ Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center in Peoria will add a music wall and more inclusive playground equipment using a $10,000 grant from the Central Illinois Community Foundation—supporting its initiative CREATING FOR THEIR FUTURE. 25 News Now

- ➤ Peoria City Council races were unofficially settled as the final mail-in ballots were counted Tuesday — Alex Carmona won District Two by 47 votes and incumbent Andre Allen won District Four by 121 votes.
