- ➤ City leaders, family, and friends gathered on Tuesday near Peoria Stadium to name Liv Warfield Way at the corner of Missouri Avenue and War Memorial Drive—honoring hometown singer-songwriter Liv Warfield. She will perform with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra at the Civic Center tomorrow. WMBD
- ➤ Dream Center Peoria will host Amy Duggar King to lead a conversation at its AWAKEN event (a fundraiser for women affected by abuse) on June 16 at 6 p.m. at Connect Church (1750 Washington Road). 25 News Now
- ➤ City leaders put up a new street sign called Doctor C.T. Vivian Avenue — near the primary school with his name — at the corner of Sheridan and Florence on Wednesday. Vivian’s daughter Jo Walker said the sign honors his work in civil rights and community service. WMBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Groundbreaking took place Tuesday for the new Lincoln Grade School on the 32-acre campus at North Main Street. The 60,400 sqft facility cost about $23.4 million & will open for the 2027-28 school year to serve 800 students with updated classrooms, a gym, and a shared bus barn. WCBU
- ➤ The Elite Game Changer Safe School, now at capacity after moving to Trewyn School, is asking the city to help ready a new building at 100 NE Randolph Ave by July & expand its services for at-risk youth. The program has a waiting list and is changing lives. 25 News Now

- ➤ Road work crews are paving parts of Jefferson Avenue and Walnut Street today — lane closures could delay drivers up to 30 minutes — as they convert one-way streets to two-way traffic and paint striping on Adams Street; alternate parking is advised until the project finishes early summer. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria tax expert William Sharpe of Total Income Tax advises taxpayers who have not filed to apply for an extension through the IRS website to complete returns by Oct. 15 even if they owe money, as sending partial payments can help reduce penalties + interest fees. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria City Council approved nearly $480k from CDBG funds for upgrading MLK Park on the South Side during Tuesday’s meeting — planned improvements include a new shelter with electricity, accessible sidewalks, renovated basketball courts, a new drinking fountain, and additional amenities. WCBU
