- ➤ Aldi is testing a new, modular store design in Illinois this year that updates its architecture, signage, and packaging in collaboration with Landini Associates. Trials began in late 2025 in Florida and the redesign comes as Aldi plans to open 180 new U.S. stores — including locations in Illinois. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ Aldi will update its Illinois stores with a new modular design and improved signage and packaging in 2026. The grocer is also set to open new outlets in the state in partnership with Landini Associates to better serve local shoppers. Peoria Journal Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two Central Illinois Girl Scouts from Pekin and Dunlap earned the Gold Award — the highest achievement in Girl Scouting — for projects on water safety and an archery trail. Both continue to lead local scout activities. 25 News Now

- ➤ City leaders officially opened Fire Station 16 on Northmoor Road—updated with firefighter sleep quarters and new technology—and replaced the 1956 building. The $5 million project was funded by a state grant secured by Sen. Dave Koehler. WMBD
