CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Chavez Allen and Marshawn Smith were indicted on Tuesday for their alleged involvement with the violent street gang known as the Snakes — which is linked to three murders and 12 shootings — and Smith faces charges including Attempt First Degree Murder while Allen was ordered to remain in jail. - ➤ A man was ordered to remain in jail after police charged 24-year-old Tyshawn Britton with hijacking a test drive vehicle from Autohaus of Peoria this past Saturday + he allegedly punched the driver, claimed he had a gun, and sped the car at 122 MPH on Interstate 155 before officers intercepted it. - ➤ A Pekin man aged 21 charged with fatally shooting two friends in a South Pekin home remains in custody pending a mental fitness evaluation (his next hearing is set for May 22). WCBU

- ➤ Spectators gathered today at 7:30 p.m. along the Illinois River to watch the implosion of the McClugage Bridge eastbound lanes but waited nearly three hours as crews managed excess onlookers, 45 mph gusts, and a tugboat stuck in the blast zone — a delay that postponed the main truss fall until about 10 p.m. 25 News Now
