COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Third graders at Northmoor Primary School are hosting their annual lemonade stand today to raise money for childhood cancer research. The event, a tradition since 2014, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. with cups at 25 cents each and donations welcome.  25 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduating seniors from 15 area high schools were honored Tuesday night at the 2026 Sterling Merit Awards Banquet at the Peoria Civic Center where over 600 students and parents attended; the event celebrated top eight percent graduates and featured a keynote by Bradley University President James Shadid.  WMBD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal agencies have allocated $500K to replace the aging Furrow Road Bridge in Tazewell County—part of a $19M plan to improve safety on a busy farming route near South Pekin. Construction will begin this fall and finish next year.  WMBD

HEALTH NEWS

  • CJ Harvest On-The-Go launched a mobile market that delivers affordable produce – including dairy and grains – to six Head Start and after-school sites across Peoria and East Peoria, serving over 600 households and promoting healthy habits. The program will continue with summer stops at the Dream Center, YMCA, and Carver Center.  25 News Now

  • Devin Whitelow, a Washington High grad, was hired as the fourth assistant coach at NIU on April 22 and his appointment was announced on May 6 by coach Matt Majkrzak to boost local talent for the upcoming NCAA Division I season — with NIU joining the Horizon League.  Pekin Daily Times
