- ➤ At a board meeting Monday, a Peoria Public Schools teacher used a $10,000 chocolate research grant to give students interactive science lessons with university labs—resulting in multiple competition wins and stronger partnerships. - ➤ Stroke Awareness Month sparks a Peoria support group that meets every third Thursday at Hult Education Center to help stroke survivors and caregivers connect + members also plan to attend the United Stroke Alliance Strike Out Stroke event with the Peoria Chiefs on May 20. 25 News Now
- ➤ OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital and the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria will end their affiliation with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on June 30. - ➤ Illinois health officials are investigating a possible hantavirus case in Winnebago County after a resident became ill from exposure to rodent droppings while cleaning a home. The patient recovered from mild symptoms & the case is not linked to the recent cruise outbreak. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois and UICOMP will end their affiliation with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and launch an independent pediatric cancer and blood disorder institute.
