ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Peoria Fire Department responded Friday night to a garage fire on West Fremont where crews encountered heavy smoke and flames in a vacant building—firefighters extinguished the blaze in 15 minutes with no injuries, and property damage is estimated at $20,000 while investigators work to determine the cause.  25 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Peoria Police investigated a shooting on Saturday evening when a man suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach at 8:05 p.m. in the 500 block of West Martin Luther King Drive (near North Hightower Street) and he was taken to a local hospital while remaining alert.  25 News Now
  • Police said a carjacking occurred Saturday night on South Western Avenue when a man threatened a driver with a gun and stole his car; the vehicle was later recovered on West Hulbert Street in South Peoria.  25 News Now

  • Nearly 50 students graduated Saturday from Methodist College in Peoria with degrees in nursing, healthcare management, social work, and health sciences.
