ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two people were taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash on May 18 near Route 24—9 in Mapleton when a pickup truck overturned in a collision with a car.  WMBD

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local businessman Jorell Glass and the owners of El Gallo Bar & Grill met after a social media controversy that started on Mother's Day over a disputed meal bill. A video posted Friday shows them shaking hands — the restaurant apologized and said both sides miscommunicated with no harmful intent.  Peoria Journal Star

CRIME NEWS

  • Peoria police have no suspect after a man was shot in the stomach outside a house on the 500 block of West Martin Luther King Drive when officers arrived around 8:05 p.m. on Saturday—he was alert and talking to officers before being taken to a local hospital for treatment.  WMBD
  • North Pekin police arrested two juveniles on May 18 for an alleged armed robbery at the BP gas station on Radio City Drive — the suspects were taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.  WMBD
  • Peoria police recovered a car stolen in a carjacking on Saturday after officers responded at around 8:10 p.m.—the vehicle was later found unoccupied on West Hurlburt while the suspect remains at large.  WMBD

CULTURE NEWS

  • The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage 2025, which began in Indianapolis and will pass through many local communities, will stop in Peoria tomorrow when parishioners gather at Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Catholic Church at about 6:30 p.m. A 20-minute procession will carry participants to the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception — where a monstrance holding sacramental bread will be displayed.  25 News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • East Peoria sophomore Quinton Kitt received a basketball scholarship offer from the University of Illinois on Sunday, joining offers from Illinois State and Bradley. He averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season—helping East Peoria achieve its first 20-win season since 1997—and said he felt grateful after speaking with Coach Geoff Alexander.  Pekin Daily Times
