- ➤ Peoria fire crews responded early Monday morning at Sharon Wood HealthCare on W. Richwoods Boulevard and found burned clothes and part of a bed in a resident's room while clearing smoke with a large fan, with one person taken to hospital and damage estimated at $500—fire investigators are still determining the cause. - ➤ Peoria police broke up a student fight after the Richwoods High School graduation on Saturday—juveniles were arrested and will face discipline as the altercation in a concession hallway did not disrupt the ceremony. Peoria Journal Star
- ➤ A 15-year-old boy charged in adult court with first-degree murder remains in custody after he is accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old James Miller on Dec. 22 in Peoria’s East Bluff—he is set for a June 12 pre-trial hearing amid a lengthy history of juvenile crimes. 25 News Now

- ➤ On Sunday, Pope Leo XIV was inaugurated at the Vatican with a Mass of Thanksgiving and Catholics in Peoria held their own service to honor him—he is the first pope raised in Chicago after replacing Pope Francis. Bishop Louis Tylka said the celebration united the community in prayer as the new pontiff began his papacy. 25 News Now
- ➤ Local artists showcased their talents at Peoria Makers Art Market on Sunday at Friendly Valley Tavern on North Meadowbrook Road — nearly two dozen vendors displayed woodworking, jewelry, paintings, and clothing.
