- ➤ Peoria Police arrested three individuals after a Thursday afternoon shooting near former Quest Charter Middle School that injured a 19-year-old—two teenagers face weapon charges while 18-year-old Zahir Graham is charged with unlawful use of a weapon. WMBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Illinois Central College is teaming up with Methodist College and Bradley University to house about 100 students after closing Woodview Commons for repairs—nearly 250 students were affected and 100 graduated recently. The college will also work with CityLink to offer transportation and gathered survey feedback on Fall housing plans. WMBD
- ➤ Washington High School juniors Isaac DeSutter and Grady Hahn finally accessed their ACT scores weeks after their peers received them and each earned a perfect 36 — the achievement comes as they plan to study engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity — with both offering advice to future test takers. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Illinois lawmakers passed two bills this week to support mothers; one bill requires employers to give paid time off for pumping breast milk while the other lets certified nurse midwives help with home births in areas with little maternity care + both bills now await the governor's approval. - ➤ Peoria City Council will review plans for a drive-through Dutch Bros Coffee shop at the southeast corner of War Memorial Drive and University Avenue as part of a small shopping center on 1.5 acres of a 4.5-acre lot.
