- ➤ The annual Memorial Day Salute 5K and One Mile Run in Lower Glen Oak Park raised nearly $12,000—double last year’s funds—to help fix up homes for about 10 veterans. Co-founder Debbie Gaught said 220 people joined the race hosted by the Illinois Valley Fuller Center for Housing since 2014. 25 News Now
- ➤ On Monday afternoon, community members gathered at Glen Oak Park to honor Vietnam servicemembers with a memorial ceremony that featured a 21 gun salute — bagpipes playing Amazing Grace — and a parade of colors by the Midwest Central Young Marines. Vietnam veteran Chris Duncan of the South West Kiwanis Club stressed the deep sacrifice made by servicemembers from Vietnam to earlier wars. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria's Honor Flight is planning a flight for July 1 to honor living veterans—nearly 2,000 are on the waiting list. The organization also urges families to attend local memorial events and visit cemeteries to remember those who sacrificed their lives. 25 News Now

- ➤ Peoria Police are asking the public to help locate 29-year-old Allison Baldwin, who was last seen on May 21 in the 200 block of NE Glen Oak and reported missing on May 25 — she is known to frequent downtown and is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 220 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes. WMBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, work began on a $6.76 million renovation at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza that will change how drivers and pedestrians move as metered parking is removed and fencing blocks access to the World War I and World War II memorials. The project, set to finish this fall and funded by ARPA, is led by CORE Construction Services and keeps the NE Jefferson entrance open — business inside the courthouse continues as usual. 25 News Now
