COMMUNITY NEWS

  • East Peoria's Levee District Farmer's Market will offer fresh produce, meats, baked goods and homemade items every Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. starting June 6 and ending August 29 on the promenade (with plenty of parking).  City of East Peoria

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Peoria emergency crews responded to a rescue call Sunday morning when a car crashed into St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on N. University Street at 8:40 a.m., sending one person to the hospital and causing extensive damage estimated at $50,000 (the church was evacuated and later deemed safe while the cause remains under investigation).  WMBD

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was injured after being hit in the face with a gun during a home invasion early Saturday in Peoria—police said two men wearing ski masks broke in around 4:15 a.m. near E. Corrington and N. Peoria Avenues, firing nine shots before fleeing.  WMBD
  • Early Saturday morning, Peoria police saw two men in a vehicle parked in a lot on SW Water Street and, after searching it, found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine on 29-year-old Anton Grayson II—he was arrested on charges that include possessing a stolen firearm, carrying a weapon as a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and lacking a FOID card.  WMBD

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pride Month brings a range of events across Illinois as Chicago holds its parade on June 29 at 11 a.m. and Rockford on June 7 at noon—Peoria will celebrate with the River City Pride Festival on July 19 at Riverfront Park at 200 NE Water Street, where tickets cost $5 online and $10 at the door.  Pekin Daily Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Illinois Central College at the Peoria campus offers a court-approved Traffic Safety course for first-time offenders and those with minor violations—aiming to help drivers clear records and curb tickets that were issued every 43 minutes in 2023. The four-hour class is available in person for $75 or online for $60 and will hold its next session on June 7.  25 News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Peoria native Domine Clemons has shared her music career and fight with acute myeloid leukemia with a MECOM rearrangement on social media to inspire hope. Now in remission, she started the Plot Twist Society support group and is fundraising—over half of the $500,000 goal raised—to cover her medical costs.  25 News Now

  • On June 6 and June 7 the 2025 IHSA Class 1A and 2A softball state finals will take place at Louisville Slugger Sports Complex at 8400 Orange Prairie Rd in Peoria—general admission tickets cost $10 per session and fans can stream the games on the NFHS Network.  Pekin Daily Times
