COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local groups partnered with Peoria Public Schools and the state education board to offer free breakfast and lunch to kids this summer. Meals are served at summer camps, teen employment programs, and on-site school locations (a daycare center will join when it opens later).  WMBD
  • The 45th Annual Moss Avenue Sale returns to its namesake street on Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local vendors, food, and live music will fill the half-mile stretch, so residents are advised to watch for nearby construction.  25 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The General Assembly passed education bills that include a statewide ban on cell phones in schools starting next year, a change letting students in 2028 use career courses for foreign language credit, new child care licensing rules for a state agency, & expanded in‑state tuition rules.  WMBD

HEALTH NEWS

  • A frozen pizza product from Champion Foods was recalled after possible salmonella was found in an ingredient used in its cheese sauce, and there have been no reported illnesses so far. Illinois stores (including Costco, Target, and Kroger) sold the product, and consumers are advised to check their freezers.  Pekin Daily Times
