- ➤ An 18-year-old Pekin woman died after a shooting near the Peoria riverfront; police said she was shot Tuesday and pronounced brain dead on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.—suspects are in custody as the investigation continues. WCBU
- ➤ A Peoria woman pleaded guilty to murdering her boyfriend in West Bluff after an October 2023 dispute during which she claimed self-defense—sentencing is set for July 31 with a maximum term of 35 years. WCBU
- ➤ Peoria Police launched an investigation on May 1 into resident James L. Parker, 56, who is suspected of online chatting with a child and planning a sexual meeting—detectives reviewed over 60 pages of messages before arresting him on June 4 near W. - ➤ Peoria will celebrate Juneteenth with a series of events starting Saturday as the Peoria Park District (collaborating with the city, YANI Collective, NAACP Peoria Branch, Southside Community Center and Heritage Ensemble) organizes festivities. The first event is the Miss Juneteenth pageant at the Carver Center and later, Jubilee Day at Glen Oak Park will feature a car show, drone show and food trucks from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. 25 News Now
