- ➤ Illinois residents can enjoy over 100 county fairs this summer as the Illinois Department of Agriculture releases a full schedule from June 3 to September 14+ the list includes the Heart Of Il Fair in Peoria from July 15 to 19 and many events across the state for family fun. Pekin Daily Times
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday at about 5:45 p.m., firefighters responded to an apartment fire in Peoria North Apartments near Lake Avenue and Knollridge Lane and treated one resident with significant burns who was taken to a local hospital — the cause remains under investigation. WMBD
- ➤ The Peoria County coroner identified 30-year-old Raven Jackson from Chillicothe as having been killed in a head-on crash Friday morning on Rt. 29 and Riverview Road in Peoria Heights—she was wearing a seatbelt but suffered multiple blunt force injuries when her car hit a pickup truck and the other driver was taken to a hospital with injuries. - ➤ Peoria County's new regional superintendent, Dr. George McKenna, was promoted after Beth Crider retired last month – he set goals to improve reading skills, reduce chronic absenteeism, and boost school safety. He will launch a state-funded grant to place a student support specialist in schools and host a Literacy Summit on June 11 at Illinois Central College. WMBD

- ➤ Construction of the new Peoria Fire Station 16 is causing intermittent lane closures on Northmoor Road near Hamilton Road today at 7 a.m. — a crane will be parked and steel beams placed today and Tuesday with traffic returning to normal on Wednesday if weather permits. The Illinois Department of Transportation is inspecting the Route 9/McNaughton Bridge in Pekin today and throughout the week, reducing it to one lane in each direction during daytime hours. WMBD
