- ➤ Peoria officials announced that the largest July 4 fireworks show, Red, White and Boom, will be held on the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts and is expected to attract up to 200,000 people. - ➤ Beginning Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., roads along the MacArthur Highway corridor will be closed for the Ernestine Jackson Juneteenth Freedom Day Parade—motorists are advised to use designated detour routes and observe parking restrictions—as the NAACP Peoria Branch sponsors the event. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a working structure fire on W. Ridge Road near N. Sheridan Road at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday evening, found heavy smoke and flames coming from a side window and door, extinguished the fire within 10 minutes, and confirmed one resident was displaced with damage estimated at $60,000 while the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ Police arrested 19-year-old Isaiah L.-Gregory after they found him attempting to hide as a large crowd dispersed in Peoria around 2:35 a.m. Saturday; he faced charges of aggravated possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card and obstructing an officer. 25 News Now
- ➤ An SUV crashed into Sharkey's Fish and Chicken—located at North Sterling and West Forrest Hill—causing minor injuries to two patrons and a 27-year-old driver who was arrested on multiple DUI and traffic charges after first responders arrived at 8:20 p.m. on June 8. 25 News Now
- ➤ The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office warned of a power washing scam — where solicitors charge $175 initially and later demand $3,000 — that reportedly targeted elderly customers in Princeville and Limestone townships. WMBD
- ➤ On June 7 at about 11:35 p.m., Peoria Police patrolling the 200 block of SW Water Street spotted a group and, after a vehicle search revealed loaded firearms, arrested two adults and one juvenile for alleged weapon offenses — the arrests followed when many subjects left the scene in their vehicles. - ➤ Peoria gas prices increased by 4.6 cents a gallon in the last week, with GasBuddy reporting an average of $3.28 on Monday; prices were 3.9 cents lower than a month ago and 35.4 cents lower than this time last year—AAA Illinois reported a similar local average of $3.29. WMBD

- ➤ A California egg company recalled 1.7 million dozen eggs on June 6 due to salmonella risks, with products shipped to stores here and in other states.
