- ➤ Arrest warrants were issued for 18-year-old Terrance Shaw and 16-year-old Jaylin Polnitz after a tow yard employee died following a high-speed crash on Monday at Billie Jo’s Towing+First Degree Murder charges were filed as the teenagers allegedly stole a vehicle and forced their way past employees+Authorities said 70-year-old William Collier succumbed to injuries the next morning. - ➤ A Peoria man received a 40-year prison sentence after a Sept. 20 shooting near the then-Taft Homes that killed 46-year-old Christopher Tillman— the 19-year-old convicted suspect will also serve three years of supervised release with credit for 990 days served. WMBD
- ➤ Peoria County Sheriff’s Office warned of a missed jury duty scam when a woman received a call stating she had an arrest warrant and needed to send between $1,000 and $15,000 via bank transfer before being told to use a Bitcoin kiosk, and officials said they never call to notify someone of a warrant. - ➤ Jenn Gordon, CEO of Peoria public television station WTVP, said the station will fight to keep its federal funding after a House vote cut public broadcasting money on Thursday. WTVP earns roughly $1 million from federal support—about one third of its budget—and will ask citizens to call their Senators for help. WMBD

- ➤ Peoria-area medical leader Meenakshy Aiyer spoke Friday morning at the East Peoria Chamber and said UIC Peoria received over 11,000 applications for 300 medicine spots with more women and students from diverse regions joining residencies and the Rural Student Physician Program. She warned that high student debt averaging $220,000 and possible funding cuts worry local leaders — Carle Health President Keith Knepp raised concerns over reduced grant support. WMBD
