- ➤ Peoria Police arrested 18-year-old Terrance J. Shaw Jr. around 5:25 p.m. Saturday on charges of first-degree murder, burglary to a business, and motor vehicle theft after he drove a stolen vehicle that crashed through the gates at Billie Jo’s Towing on West Lincoln Avenue and struck 70-year-old William Collier on June 9 — authorities also transferred 16-year-old Jalin Polnitz’s case to adult court after his arrest last Friday. 25 News Now

- ➤ The Peoria NAACP hosted its second annual Ernestine Jackson Juneteenth Freedom Day Parade to honor a local civil rights activist and mark the 1865 moment when enslaved people were informed of their freedom — organizers noted the turnout was larger than in 2024, and the YANI Collective followed with a festival at John Gwinn Jr. Park.
