GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, road construction projects begin in Peoria with a major upgrade on Route 9 west of Tremont to East Street—this work will include pavement patching, resurfacing, widening to add a center turn lane, new bike lanes and pavement markings, and a culvert replacement that will require intermittent daytime lane closures into summer 2026. Sewer work will also start on Jefferson Avenue between Blaine Street and Greenlawn Avenue, and paving on Maxwell Road from Charleston to Fairview will resume at 6 a.m. with delays up to 20 minutes expected.
