- ➤ The Kroger store on Sterling Avenue in Peoria will permanently close on about Aug. 2 as part of a nationwide cost-cutting plan, and employees will be offered transfers to new locations. Company officials explained the closure is one of 60 planned store exits over the next 18 months — a move intended to support long-term business stability. Peoria Journal Star

- ➤ A 17-year-old male was arrested after police connected him to an armed robbery following reports of a large crowd and fighting at Logan Park on Saturday in South Peoria; he fled on foot but was caught near Malone and Westmoreland with help from a K-9 unit and drone (which located two discarded handguns). - ➤ Peoria Police arrested two men tied to a shots fired incident on Friday at the 1200 block of W. Butler—while a third suspect remains at large after officers chased three men and recovered a firearm from one vehicle. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria Police are investigating an alleged hate crime after two flags, one with a business logo and one a pride flag, were torn from their mounts outside In Bloom Tattoo Collective on Liberty Street around 8:00 p.m. Saturday—photos show four male suspects. WMBD
- ➤ Peoria police arrested a 17-year-old boy on preliminary charges including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, handgun possession without FOID, ammunition possession without FOID, and obstructing police after officers responded at 7:43 p.m. to a report of a large fight among juveniles at Logan Park on the 1400 block of South Livingston where over 250 people were present, and he fled during the encounter before being caught with two discarded handguns in his flight path. 25 News Now

- ➤ Gas prices in Peoria were almost unchanged on Monday with an average of $3.27 per gallon at 148 stations, a drop of 0.3 cents from last week—GasBuddy said national prices rose and further increases may come as global tensions affect oil trends. WMBD

- ➤ Local health officials are sharing tips to help residents stay safe during extreme heat — they advise wearing lightweight clothing and drinking water or electrolyte drinks to prevent heat-related conditions from mild heat rash to heat exhaustion.
