- ➤ A Peoria County grand jury indicted 19-year-old Deziaah Hunter on a first-degree murder charge for fatally shooting 18-year-old Kenadee Wallenfang near the Peoria Riverfront earlier this month—Hunter was initially charged with aggravated battery with a firearm before authorities upgraded the charge after the victim was found beside an SUV on Southwest Water Street. - ➤ A Peoria man accused of fatally shooting Teron M. Scott, Jr. in a drive-by on June 20 will remain in jail until trial on July 17 as police used surveillance footage to identify 20-year-old Christopher P. Adams from a car crash at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria police arrested an 18-year-old suspect—Kemaeron D. Bell—at 5:45 p.m. Monday on a preliminary first-degree murder charge, adding to 20-year-old Christopher P. Adams' Saturday arrest in connection with last week’s shooting that left Teron Scott Jr. dead and a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hand. 25 News Now

- ➤ Peoria City Council voted 9—2 on Tuesday to buy the nearly 70-acre Expo Gardens property on Northmoor Road for $1.125 million to drive future residential development. The city will use a state appropriation and a short-term loan from its OPEB fund as it plans to start accepting development proposals within 60 days of closing the sale. WCBU
- ➤ Peoria City Council on Tuesday night approved $64,000 to extend non-profit LULA’s hotel housing program until the end of July. The city has spent nearly $400,000 since January—helping more than 100 people secure temporary shelter while easing local encampments. Peoria Journal Star
