- ➤ The League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria held its third Shine on Democracy event at the Universalist Unitarian Church where local experts explained how federal policies affect weather services, agriculture, and healthcare. State Rep. Gordon-Booth and City Manager Urich stressed that upcoming reform bills—set for Senate review this fall—aim to ease the tax load without cutting funding for schools and community services while local efforts to boost Peoria’s tax base continue.
