- ➤ Midwest Food Bank is working with the Salvation Army to deliver 24 pallets of food and hygiene items to a church in Central Texas after flash floods killed over 100 people — community teams are handing out supplies to affected families. John Cirilli said the next phase will focus on restocking pantries, and donations will help cover additional costs. WMBD
- ➤ Next Level Academies President Antonio Lipscomb is sponsoring the Stop the Violence march in downtown Peoria on July 12 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—the event will gather the community to promote mental health and teach conflict resolution; the march starts outside City Hall on Fulton Street and ends at 1015 S. - ➤ The Peoria Art Guild is asking for help finding a stolen painting of a cow named Annie that was taken Monday morning from its display — the pawn shop and police identified a suspect who reportedly tried to sell it. WMBD
- ➤ Peoria Police investigated shots fired Monday night near Main and Madison—officers were dispatched after 10:30 p.m. following reports that a person fired from a moving vehicle, prompting three males to flee on foot while no injuries were reported. WMBD

- ➤ Peoria Municipal Band is ready for its 2025 summer season and will play free concerts every Wednesday downtown and Sunday at Glen Oak Park—plus special Friday shows with guest acts—as explained by conductor Dr. David Vroman in an interview with Dr. Mae Gilliland from ArtsPartners. In its 88th year, the band will entertain people with marches, movie themes, Broadway tunes, and more. WCBU

- ➤ Peoria city council approved a development agreement with local partners to extend a sanitary sewer along War Memoria Drive connecting Haven on the Farms and Pringle Enterprises properties, with a $75,500 project cost. The sewer extension will be completed next year + funding comes from American Rescue Plan and a federal earmark, and the deal fixes a gap from an expired recapture agreement + covering installation and connection costs. - ➤ Peoria nonprofit Central Illinois Community Development Corporation received nearly $1 million from the state on July 8 for its South Village Homes project—a clean energy affordable housing plan on the South Side—and will use the grant to develop a detailed plan and attract private partners.
