The Peoria Chiefs and Peoria County Sheriff's Department are reviving the Golden Baseball Initiative this summer, awarding golden baseballs to children for good deeds.
Kids can exchange a ball for two free tickets at the Chiefs box office for an August or September game — move to boost community ties.
A water main broke near Dozer Park around 11 p.m. Thursday, affecting residents on Jefferson Avenue and Oak Street, and Illinois American Water says repairs should finish late Friday morning.
A boil order remains in effect until about 10 a.m. Friday for safety.
🏛️ Government
Tazewell County Land Use Committee recommended two amendments to form a renewable energy ordinance covering wind, solar, and battery storage, and voted 6-2 to deny a 5-megawatt solar farm proposal in Mackinaw over residential concerns.
The county board will review the proposals this week (new data center rules follow later).
