Marshall County hosts its 16th St. Jude Run at 5 a.m. today, featuring its first two second-generation runners (two 16-year-old boys whose moms are regular participants).

The 50-mile relay to Peoria will stop near the Lacon bridge and aims to raise nearly $259,000 for the hospital.

Runners are gathering at the Peoria Civic Center for the 45th St. Jude Runs today, and downtown roads will close at 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. for the event; drivers should plan alternate routes.

Peoria township trustees approved an ad hoc committee on Tuesday to study the feasibility of using public funds for a new senior center at City Hall, with nine members including three senior representatives.

The Peoria Area Association of Realtors reported that in the second quarter home sales in Greater Peoria increased by 14.6% with 1,723 homes sold, 200 more than last year, and average prices rising from $203,606 to $219,865 despite mortgage rates reaching 6.7%.
