- ➤ El Mirador en el Rio has opened in the Powell Press Building in Peoria— the city’s oldest commercial building built in 1852 and once a printing shop and visitor’s center. - ➤ On Saturday, August 2, at about 1:39 p.m., Peoria Police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 500 block of W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when a male subject discharged a shotgun inside a residence during a verbal altercation—no injuries were reported and the suspect was not located. City of Peoria
- ➤ Peoria Police responded at around 12:30 a.m. early Saturday at Willow Knolls and Bradford in Peoria—hospitalizing a 36 year old man after he was shot multiple times in his right hand and grazed on the back of his head; his injuries were not life-threatening and police are seeking suspects. WMBD

- ➤ Peoria gas prices increased by 1.9 cents in the past week to average $3.31 a gallon on Monday — oil briefly hit $70 a barrel last week — according to GasBuddy, with prices still four cents lower than last month's and 43 cents lower than last year's levels. WMBD

- ➤ Starting Monday, Peoria will replace some downtown parking meters with smart versions that accept coins, credit cards, debit cards, and contactless payments. During this week-long upgrade, the city is waiving meter fees — all parking meters will soon switch to the new system with a text reminder before time runs out. WMBD
