On Saturday, Hoerr Nursery celebrated its 100th year by releasing 100 butterflies over its Northwest location, where families received a sleeping butterfly and enjoyed flowers and treats (from the event at 8020 North Shade Tree Drive) while sharing favorite gardening memories (as encouraged by the nursery).
💼 Business
Ejire Foods and Pastries held a Nigerian pop-up lunch last Saturday at Bradley University’s Turner Center, serving hundreds of meals to local residents.
The catering business plans another pop-up next month (check their social media for dates).
The former Best Buy site at Glen Hollow Shopping Center will become FreeFly Adventure Park with jump courts, a ninja obstacle course and a toddler zone, and it will welcome guests in spring 2027.
Guitar Center is reopening its Peoria location at Westlake Shopping Center on Oct.
22 — nearly one year after a water main break forced its closure. The store will host a grand reopening celebration through Oct. 25.

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform imaging procedures that help physicians diagnose and monitor cancer and other conditions. This role works closely with patients, providers, and clinical staff to ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive care experience. Illinois Nuclear Medicine licensure, NMTCB and/or ARRT certification are required.
