COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Central Illinois will celebrate Labor Day with two parades today—one in Peoria following a new route and one in Bloomington. The Peoria parade starts at 11 a.m. at lower Laura Bradley Park and travels west along Farmington Road to Raber Packing Co. where a festival with food and live music will follow, while Bloomington’s parade begins downtown at 10 a.m. with union leaders and bands participating.  25 News Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • State Police responded to a call for a medical emergency on Route 24 just west of Glasford Road around 8 p.m. Saturday in Peoria County and found a vehicle in a ditch with one man dead—officials have not determined if the death was due to the emergency or the crash.  WMBD
  • A vehicle crashed into a detached garage on the 3400 block of Meadow Avenue at 2:07 a.m. Sunday—injuring the driver who was taken to a local hospital as the investigation continues.  WMBD

  • Enercon Engineering, based in East Peoria’s Levee District, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in September—having grown from a Chillicothe boathouse into a global energy solutions provider serving over 100 countries. CRIME NEWS

  • Peoria Police arrested a 40-year-old woman in Central Peoria on Sunday after officers responded to a stabbing report shortly before 7 a.m. near West Overbrook Drive on the 2800 block of North Harper Terrace—she has been booked on charges including domestic battery and home invasion while a 47-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  25 News Now

  • Peoria's September calendar features a variety of events such as live concerts, art fairs, and community festivals at venues like the Civic Center and riverfront park—tickets are available online. FINANCE NEWS
