COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Political activists marched side by side with union members at the West Peoria Labor Day parade on Monday — the group 50501 joined the nationwide Workers Over Billionaires event along Farmington Road. They called for shared wealth with workers and demanded that rich interests give back to the community.  25 News Now
  • The Peoria area Labor Day Parade broke tradition in West Peoria as it started at 11 a.m. at lower Laura Bradley Park and ended at Raber Packing Co.—where local officials with union ties served as grand marshals and a family-friendly festival was held from noon until 4 p.m.  WMBD

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Peoria firefighters used extrication tools to free a person trapped in a three-vehicle crash on the 4000 block of North Sterling Monday morning and transferred the individual to AMT hospital where the injuries were non-life-threatening.  25 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Peoria Police responded early Sunday morning near W. Harper Terrace and W. Overbrook Drive to a stabbing that injured a 47 year old man and led to the arrest of a 40 year old suspect — Elizabeth Brown, charged with home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and criminal damage to property.  WMBD

  • Central Illinois is starting fall with cooler weather today that is expected to hold until early September before warmer days return later this month—farmers may receive timely rains while residents enjoy longer-lasting fall colors despite an extended allergy season.  25 News Now
