ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Peoria man named Michael Eddy aged 53 died early Tuesday morning after a Labor Day motorcycle crash on Illinois 26 in Woodford County—he was thrown from his bike when the lead rider crossed the center line into an oncoming SUV and was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. WCBU
- ➤ A 54-year-old Pekin man named Jeremy Englert was found unresponsive in his vehicle on U.S. Route 24 near Glasford Road in rural Peoria County on Saturday evening; Illinois State Police arrived at 7:54 p.m. and he was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m.—officials said he suffered an immediate cardiac event with no signs of trauma and toxicology tests are pending. - ➤ A 93-year-old man was arrested for first degree murder after a fatal stabbing on Tuesday in Pekin—officers responded to South 14th and Hazel where they found a female victim who later died at the hospital. WMBD

- ➤ TempleLive has pulled out of operating the Peoria Scottish Rite Theater — all future shows have been canceled and ticket holders will be refunded at the purchase point, leaving the venue without scheduled events for now. 25 News Now

- ➤ Peoria gas prices rose nearly two cents in the last week as they averaged $3.36 a gallon on Tuesday, GasBuddy reported — this marks a five-cent increase from last month while staying 25 cents lower than this time last year. AAA Illinois reported similar levels, and GasBuddy said the national average may drop to $2.99 per gallon this fall if no major disruptions occur. WMBD

- ➤ Nonprofit Will Kenny Foundation was set up to honor Will Kenny and boost STEM programs in Central Illinois—its efforts include scholarships and grants for schools. The group is partnering with local Black Band Distillery to debut a limited edition whiskey called The Bear at a Whiskey and Robots fundraiser this Thursday from 5-9 p.m.—all proceeds will fund new STEM initiatives. - ➤ Illinois Central College is asking for community input in its search for a new president as the board hired RH Perry and Associates to lead focus group sessions on Thursday at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 2 p.m., along with a virtual meeting and an online survey open until next Tuesday—current president Sheila Quirk-Bailey will retire at the end of December with Bruce Budde serving as interim. The college also reported more than 8,200 fall registrations, scheduled campus visit days on both East Peoria and Peoria campuses, and will host its 44th Landscape and Garden Day on Saturday from 9 a.m.—3 p.m. at the Horticulture Land Lab.
