ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Peoria firefighters extinguished an RV fire in the 8000 block of North Knoxville Avenue at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday—taking about 10 minutes to control the blaze with no injuries and damage estimated at $25,000. 25 News Now
- ➤ Tuesday morning, an RV was damaged by fire near Knoxville and Detwiller when Peoria Fire crews arrived at 10:15 a.m.—the blaze was put out in about 10 minutes with damage estimated at $25,000 and no injuries reported. WMBD
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Mattress Liquidators is holding a moving sale at its current Peoria store on War Memorial Drive as it prepares to relocate to a larger space in The Shoppes at Grand Prairie next month—shoppers can save 50 to 80 percent on mattresses, furniture and appliances during this clearance event. Owner Ken Humphrey said the move will expand the lineup to include flooring and hot tubs while current inventory will not be transferred to the new location. Peoria Journal Star

- ➤ A 17-year-old Peoria teen was indicted for aggravated DUI after a fatal crash on March 22 that killed an East Peoria man when he allegedly drove under the influence of synthetic cannabis—authorities issued a warrant for his arrest as he will be tried in adult court. 25 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Illinois Supreme Court chose Justice P. Scott Neville Jr. as the next chief justice, and he will start his three-year term in October. Neville, who has been on the court since 2018, said he will work to make the courts fair and easy to understand for everyone. WMBD
- ➤ Peoria City Council signed a letter of intent with the Hengst Foundation to donate $11 million for a 5000-seat Riverfront amphitheater, with city funds covering its infrastructure upgrades and ongoing maintenance. The donation agreement will be finalized in a couple of months — local leaders expect it to boost downtown activity. 25 News Now

- ➤ OSF HealthCare was selected to receive $2.5 million from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute for a four-year initiative that will improve hypertension care at 123 primary care facilities for over 100,000 patients — it also received a $750,000 Rural Development grant to expand telehealth services via three mobile units serving nearly 16,000 individuals in rural counties.
