- ➤ Heavy metal band Ghost will perform at the Peoria Civic Center Arena on Thursday, February 5 as part of their Skeletour World Tour — tickets will go on sale Friday, October 3 with a Presale starting Thursday, October 2. WMBD
- ➤ Dan Conlin, owner of The Jukebox Comedy Club, launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $30,000 to pay for repairs after a damaged sign and a roof collapse on an adjacent building — the campaign has already raised over $13,000. The club, which opened in 1990, remains a cherished venue in Peoria supported by local comedians and fans. Peoria Journal Star

- ➤ Ameren Illinois will lower electricity prices starting Oct. 1 after summer costs jumped 50%—customers will pay 8.4 cents per kilowatt hour for lower usage and 7.5 cents for higher usage. Peoria customers in the municipal aggregation program will see lower rates in early December and must opt out by Sept. 30 if they choose. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ Central Illinois soybean farmers face a crisis as China stopped buying U.S. soybeans because of tariffs, which is expected to lower incomes and prompt more corn production in the future. Peoria County Farm Bureau has a plan for this year but warns that if China's market remains closed, the problem will worsen. 25 News Now
- ➤ Peoria gas prices dropped 1.8 cents a gallon last week, averaging $3.31 on Monday according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations—making prices 6.3 cents lower than last month and 6.2 cents lower than last year; AAA Illinois reported a state average of $3.37 and a national average of $3.13. WMBD
- ➤ Farmers in Central Illinois are facing a moderate drought but expect a good harvest because they began picking soybeans and corn a month ago and plan to finish the crop soon — prices remain similar to last year, with corn at about $4.20 and soybeans near $10. - ➤ Over 4,000 eighth-grade students from across Central Illinois are expected to attend the two-day Greater Peoria CareerSpark expo at the Peoria Civic Center. Organized by Junior Achievement of Central Illinois and community partners, the expo will run Wednesday and Thursday—offering hands-on sessions in fields like manufacturing, health care, IT and construction. - ➤ The Bradley Braves were picked fourth in the 2025-26 Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll by head coaches, league media and team staff—showing a shift from last preseason when they were near a consensus No. 1. The top five teams were Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Murray State, Bradley and Belmont, and the conference will release its schedule later this week. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ The Bradley Braves men’s basketball season will start on November 3rd in South Carolina as they face Saint Bonaventure, and coach Brian Wardle said eight freshmen and sophomores (including local player Deitrich Richardson) will help build the team. Wardle said he will set final lineups and leadership roles by Christmas to prepare for a test game that will expose the team’s potential. WMBD
