- ➤ Peoria firefighters responded to a brush fire near homes in the 2800 block of W. Reservoir Boulevard Saturday afternoon—using handlines and brush cutting to contain the blaze to a half-acre and keep nearby properties safe amid extreme drought conditions. WMBD
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Peoria dropped over 2.5 cents to average $3.28 a gallon on Monday, which is 6.5 cents lower than a month ago and the same as last year (GasBuddy data) while national prices showed mixed trends. WMBD
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Peoria area high school football teams will play conference games in Week 7 of the 2025 IHSA season on Oct.10. The schedule lists match-ups from the Big 12, Mid-Illini, Tri-County, and Central Illinois leagues with games starting at 7 or 7:30 p.m. Pekin Daily Times
- ➤ Illinois high school sports officials in central Illinois are paid per game based on the Mid-Illini contract for 2025-26—football officials earn $100 per varsity game and basketball refs make $90 per game.
