- ➤ Dunlap Community Unit School District 323 got a permit to build a new two-story elementary school in a residential district on North Pacific that will replace Wilder-Waite Elementary—backed by up to $44 million in bonds. - ➤ The East Peoria City Council voted on Tuesday to approve the first reading of an ordinance that will ban the sale, possession, and use of kratom and its byproduct 7-OH amid health concerns—violators will face fines from $350 to $750. - ➤ City staff reported on Tuesday night that Peoria’s plan to add a passenger rail line to Chicago will cost more than estimated as spending for step two rises from $4 million to about $6.4 million.
