COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pathways Ministries hosted a 24-hour event named Conversations on a Bench that began Thursday at 2 p.m. where the executive director spoke with about 50 people including Mayor Rita Ali and local residents to discuss homelessness in Peoria. The ministry’s shelter serves about 170 individuals each night.  25 News Now
  • Wildlife Prairie Park is marking 40 years with Wildlife Scary Park in October, offering a new carnival with six frightening rides and pricing details set at ($15/$25 for members and $20/$30 for non-members). The Scary Train Ride leaves at 6:00 p.m. to launch the evening event.  25 News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sixteen new murals were unveiled Friday in Peoria’s Warehouse District—each created by local artists and displayed on the exterior of Builder’s Warehouse across from First Ascent along Washington and Depot streets. City Manager Patrick Urich said the project is part of investments that have beautified the district with new parking and housing developments.  25 News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Area residents will join regional business and community leaders at the Big Table Greater Peoria conference on October 17th at the Four Seasons by Sheraton in downtown Peoria to discuss economic growth strategies. The one-day event will feature panel discussions and a keynote by Victor Hwang—focusing on talent, start-ups, livability, and expanding access to opportunities.  WCBU

SPORTS NEWS

  • In week 7 of high school football, key local games saw Washington face Dunlap and teams like East Peoria, Morton, and Peoria Notre Dame compete for playoff spots. Princeville High School is a finalist for a $1 million stadium upgrade—after receiving a $25,000 award from T-Mobile.  Pekin Daily Times
  • On Friday night during Week 7 of the Illinois high school football season, teams in the Peoria area posted scores—Peoria Notre Dame won 21—7 over Bloomington and Normal West defeated Manual 35—0, with other games also played.  Pekin Daily Times
  • The 2025 IHSA golf state finals held on Friday at courses in Bloomington-Normal and Decatur revealed top teams and advancing golfers for the boys and girls events—Peoria area competitors include 24 golfers and four teams, and the next round will award state trophies and medals.  Pekin Daily Times
